Business Process — Business process definition can be a collection of tasks linked to deliver a service or product to a client. Simply put, processes are basically the set of activities or tasks, which once completed leads to accomplishment of the business goals.

There are 3 Broad Types of Business Processes can be majorly categorized as follows:

• Primary Process (also termed as an essential process).

• Support process.

• Management process.

Business Functions — Business functions are the activities carried out by an enterprise specific to the functions. The function refers to both the organizational unit and the types of activities it performs.

They can be divided into: Core functions, and Support functions.

Core functions consist of all directly fund yielding functions, while support functions don’t direct bring money to the organization. It is meant to support the core functions.

Both of these combined gives a clear idea of a business proficiency. Once the understanding of processes is clear, identifying the process which is to be optimized to achieve the set target becomes very clear.

We prepare process models to enhance our understanding of various processes. What is a business process model? These are analytical or illustrated representations of various processes within an organization. It involves characterization of processes under different categories based on their traits.

These processes yield the best results when optimized. Business process optimization is the practice of improving processes that in turn, increases efficiency of the organization.

It’s a part of the discipline of business process management (BPM).
